Nothing

Unfired Stoneware - 60"x12"
Anxiety is often referred to as the fear of nothing. With the interactive ceramics piece “Nothing” forced the viewer to experience what it’s like to deal with mental illness. The use of unfired clay allows the piece to be fragile and it's size makes it intimidating. With the piece standing in your way, you must make a decision to cross it or let it hold you back. This was my attempt at forcing anxiety onto my viewers in an attempt to help them understand anxiety.

After Nothing

Nothing has been destroyed. This piece was designed to bring new light to interactive ceramics. I attempt to open the conversation to mental illness and overcoming it to free yourself. Often times anxiety is described as the fear of nothing. This unfired ceramic piece blocked the doorway forcing visitors to awkwardly step over it. Inducing a sense of anxiety over nothing.
